Bakersfield Tank Company was incorporated in 1980 and has been since that time continuously engaged in the design and fabrication of a variety of welded steel tanks, vessels and other fabricated steel products. We have served virtually all of the major oil companies operating in California over the last twenty years. These have included Chevron, Shell, Arco, Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, and Unocal as well as the now merged corporations of Gulf, Tenneco, and Getty. We have coordinated and worked extensively with the engineering staffs of these companies as well as major engineering concerns including Bechtel, Fluor Daniel, Duke Energy, and Babcock & Wilcox. Products provided to these companies were designed, fabricated, inspected and tested in accordance with nationally recognized specifications such as A.P.I. 650, 620, 12F,  and ASME code Sec.VIII Div. 1. Many projects ranged in sizes between 50 to 1500 barrels.

We have, since 1987, been an Underwriters Laboratories listee for above ground and underground fuel tanks. Since that time we have produced more than three thousand tanks under these listings. 1993 we were one of the first four companies nationwide to receive a listing for the design and testing of a tank meeting the stringent requirements of  U.L. 2085 for fire resistant, ballistic resistant and impact resistant insulated aboveground tanks. The Enviro-Vault® insulated aboveground fuel tank using our design is marketed nationwide. To date, we have fabricated and sold over 2000 Enviro-Vault® aboveground storage tanks.

In October 1992 we were approved by the A.S.M.E. code committee and the National Board for Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors to fabricate products under A.S.M.E. Section VIII, Div. 1 and to apply the "U" and "S" stamp. In 1995/1998 and again in 2001 we satisfactorily completed our tri-annual National Board audit and review. To date we have completed over 300 ASME code projects.
